The capital’s Air Quality Index is set to fall into the ‘poor’ category on Wednesday, indicating a rise in pollution levels.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) for Delhi is expected to slip into the “poor” bracket starting Wednesday, according to a report by Livemint. The downgrade reflects a measurable increase in airborne pollutants across the city.
When the AQI moves into the poor range, concentrations of particulate matter and other harmful gases exceed thresholds that can affect sensitive groups such as children, the elderly and those with respiratory conditions. Health advisories typically recommend limiting outdoor activities during such periods.
Officials have cautioned that the rise in pollution is likely to persist through the week, urging residents to stay informed about real‑time air‑quality updates and to take precautionary steps as needed.
