The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for the Delhi‑NCR region as the monsoon system merges with a western disturbance, forecasted to bring heavy rainfall.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has released a red alert for the Delhi‑NCR area, warning residents of potentially heavy rainfall. The alert follows the convergence of the monsoon flow with a western disturbance, a combination that typically leads to intense precipitation.

According to the IMD, the region could receive up to 150 mm of rain in a 24‑hour period, with localized flooding likely in low‑lying and drainage‑poor zones. Authorities are advised to prepare for waterlogging and to reinforce drainage systems.

Residents are urged to stay indoors during peak rainfall hours, keep emergency kits ready, and avoid traveling on congested roads. Local police and municipal bodies are on standby to respond to any incidents arising from the heavy downpour.

The red alert remains in effect until 12 pm on Sunday, after which it will be reassessed based on updated weather models.
