Heavy rains have turned Delhi’s main roads into waterlogged quagmires, halting traffic during the Kanwar Yatra. Commuters and pilgrims alike face delays as authorities scramble to manage the congestion.

Heavy rainfall over the past days has turned Delhi’s key arteries into waterlogged corridors, causing widespread traffic paralysis during the Kanwar Yatra. The influx of pilgrims traveling to the Ganga has already strained the city’s transport network, and the sudden downpour has exacerbated the situation.

Drivers report that major roads such as the Ring Road, Rajpath, and parts of the Outer Ring Road are submerged, forcing vehicles to halt or detour. Public transport services, including buses and metro lines, have been temporarily suspended in several affected sectors.

Traffic police have deployed additional officers and set up temporary barricades to manage the flow and prevent accidents. Authorities are urging commuters to use alternative routes and to avoid traveling during peak hours until the water recedes.

The Delhi Transport Department has announced that it will monitor the situation closely and will provide updates on road clearance and traffic restoration as the weather improves.
