Delhi to Impose ₹10,000 Fine on Vehicles Without Valid PUC from Oct 1

From October 1, Delhi’s transport authority will fine vehicles lacking a current Pollution Under Control certificate up to ₹10,000.
The Delhi government has announced that a new Pollution Under Control (PUC) enforcement rule will take effect on 1 October. Under the rule, any motor vehicle that does not possess a valid PUC certificate at the time of inspection will be liable to a penalty of up to ₹10,000.
Transport officials will conduct spot checks at traffic signals, toll plazas and during routine police stops. The fine is intended to compel owners to renew their PUC certificates promptly and to curb emissions from non‑compliant vehicles.
The measure aligns with Delhi’s broader air‑quality improvement plan, which seeks to reduce particulate matter and other pollutants. Vehicle owners are advised to schedule PUC testing before the deadline to avoid the penalty.
