During the annual Ramlila celebrations, Delhi authorities plan to burn a large effigy of a cockroach alongside the traditional Ravana effigy, a symbolic act aimed at eradicating negativity.
The city of Delhi will host a unique Ramlila event this year, where a massive effigy of a cockroach will be burned together with the traditional Ravana effigy. The act, scheduled for the evening of the festival, is intended to symbolize the removal of unwanted elements and negativity from society.
Officials have announced that the cockroach effigy will be approximately 100 feet tall, matching the scale of the Ravana figure. The event is expected to attract thousands of devotees and tourists, all eager to witness the symbolic burning.
While Delhi is the focal point, other cities such as Indore and Kota have also announced plans to burn large effigies—111 feet in Indore and 105 feet in Kota—highlighting the widespread enthusiasm for the tradition across the country.
The Delhi Municipal Corporation has assured that adequate safety measures will be in place, including crowd control and fire safety protocols, to ensure a smooth and secure ceremony.
