The Delhi government has approved a 61‑kilometre Najafgarh drain corridor aimed at reducing traffic congestion across the capital.
The municipal authorities in Delhi have announced plans to develop a 61‑kilometre corridor alongside the Najafgarh drain. The project is intended to provide an alternative route for vehicles, thereby alleviating pressure on existing arterial roads that are often clogged during peak hours.
According to officials, the corridor will feature multiple entry and exit points, integrating with major highways and local streets. The design includes provisions for pedestrian pathways and drainage improvements to address flooding concerns during monsoon seasons.
The initiative is part of a broader effort by the Delhi government to modernise urban infrastructure and improve commuter experience. Construction is slated to begin later this year, with completion targeted within the next three to four years.
