Health officials report a sharp rise in H1N1 infections in Delhi, with doctors attributing the surge to seasonal changes and other factors.

Delhi health authorities have confirmed a noticeable increase in H1N1 influenza cases this season, prompting heightened surveillance across the city. The rise has been reported by hospitals and clinics that are seeing more patients with flu‑like symptoms testing positive for the virus.
Doctors consulted by NDTV say the surge is linked to a combination of seasonal factors, including cooler weather that encourages indoor crowding and a possible shift in the virus’s genetic makeup that makes it more transmissible. They also point to lower vaccination uptake compared with previous years, which leaves a larger portion of the population vulnerable.
The medical community is urging residents to seek early medical attention if they develop fever, cough or breathlessness, and to follow preventive measures such as hand hygiene, mask use and timely vaccination. Authorities are monitoring the situation closely and have ramped up testing capacity to contain any further spread.
