Delhi's new Winter Action Plan mandates schools to improve indoor air quality by enhancing ventilation, reducing dust, and monitoring firecracker usage to curb pollution.

Delhi authorities have rolled out a Winter Action Plan aimed at tackling the city’s worsening air quality during the colder months. The plan specifically instructs schools across the metropolis to upgrade their ventilation systems, ensuring that fresh air circulates more efficiently inside classrooms.

In addition to ventilation, schools are required to implement measures that curb the accumulation of dust on floors and windows. This includes regular cleaning protocols and the use of dust‑free materials wherever possible.

The plan also addresses the use of firecrackers, which are a major source of particulate matter. School administrations are asked to monitor and restrict firecracker usage in and around school premises.

Officials say that these steps will help reduce students’ exposure to pollutants and contribute to a broader effort to improve Delhi’s winter air quality.
