Delhi Scam: Fraudsters Pose as Story TV Customer Care, Victim Loses Rs 95,000

A resident of Uttam Nagar, Delhi, was duped by fraudsters pretending to be Story TV customer care while promising a Rs 1 refund, resulting in a loss of Rs 95,000.
In Uttam Nagar, Delhi, a man seeking a nominal Rs 1 refund for a Story TV app recharge searched online for the service's customer‑care number. The search led him to a phone number that turned out to be operated by fraudsters.
The callers introduced themselves as representatives of Story TV's customer support and assured the victim that the refund would be processed immediately. Trusting the claim, the victim shared personal details and transferred money as instructed.
Instead of receiving the promised Rs 1, the victim was asked to pay additional fees to release the refund. By the end of the call, he had transferred a total of Rs 95,000 to the scammers. Local authorities have warned consumers to verify official contact numbers on the official Story TV website or app and to avoid sharing banking information over unsolicited calls.
Police in Delhi are investigating the incident and have urged the public to report similar fraud attempts promptly.
