Delhi officials have set up 81 artificial ponds and arranged over 250 containers for puja items to facilitate a clean and orderly Ganesh Visarjan this year.
The Delhi Municipal Corporation announced that 81 artificial ponds have been installed across the city to host the immersion of Ganesh idols this year. The temporary water bodies are located at designated sites near major waterways and public spaces, allowing devotees to perform the ritual without crowding natural rivers.
In addition to the ponds, more than 250 containers have been positioned to collect puja materials such as flowers, incense sticks and leftover offerings. The measure aims to curb littering and protect the environment after the immersion ceremony.
Officials said the infrastructure will be monitored by city workers and volunteers to ensure smooth flow of devotees and timely removal of waste. The arrangements reflect Delhi's ongoing effort to balance religious traditions with urban cleanliness and public health concerns.
The city has also issued guidelines urging worshippers to use eco‑friendly idols and to follow the designated immersion points, reinforcing the broader push for sustainable celebrations.
Overall, the coordinated setup is expected to streamline the Ganesh Visarjan process, reducing congestion and minimizing the ecological impact in the capital.
