Delhi Police Tightens Diwali Firecracker Surveillance, Violators to Face Action

Delhi police have stepped up monitoring of firecracker use across the capital ahead of Diwali, and the fire department has activated a comprehensive emergency response plan to tackle any fire incidents.
Delhi police announced a city‑wide intensification of surveillance on firecracker sales and usage as the Diwali festival approaches. Officers have been deployed at major market hubs, residential colonies and entry points to ensure compliance with the capital’s firecracker ban and timing restrictions.
The police command has instructed teams to conduct spot checks, seize illegal firecrackers and issue penalties to violators under the existing municipal regulations. Senior officials said that any breach will attract strict action, including fines and possible prosecution.
Concurrently, the Delhi Fire Service has rolled out an extensive emergency response framework. Additional fire‑fighting units, ambulances and rapid‑deployment teams have been placed on standby, and a dedicated command centre will coordinate real‑time alerts from the field.
Authorities have urged citizens to celebrate responsibly, avoid the use of prohibited fireworks, and report any violations to the nearest police outpost or fire‑service helpline.
