The Delhi police have proposed to block the entry and exit points of 57 metro stations from 9 p.m. tonight until tomorrow, citing ongoing protests.

Delhi police issued a notice late on Tuesday indicating that the entry and exit gates of 57 metro stations across the capital will be closed from 9 p.m. tonight until the following day. The move is a direct response to large‑scale protests that have been disrupting normal commuter flow and raising security concerns.

The list of affected stations, which includes key interchange points, was circulated among metro officials and the public through official channels. Commuters have been advised to seek alternative routes or use other modes of transport during the brief shutdown.

Authorities said the temporary closure is intended to ensure the safety of both protestors and passengers while law‑enforcement teams manage the situation on the ground. The police will monitor developments and may extend the restrictions if the protests continue.

Metro Rail Corporation officials confirmed that train services will continue to run, but passengers will not be able to enter or exit at the designated stations during the closure period. They urged commuters to plan their journeys accordingly and stay updated via the metro’s official communication platforms.

The decision reflects the city’s broader challenge of balancing civic dissent with the need to maintain essential public services, a pattern seen in recent weeks across several Indian metros.
