Delhi Police Bust Trafficking Ring that Imported Women from Bengal to Local Brothel

Delhi police have uncovered a trafficking network that brought women from West Bengal to a city brothel, rescuing the victims and arresting several gang members.
Delhi police announced on Monday that they have dismantled a criminal gang involved in trafficking women from West Bengal to a brothel operating in the national capital. The investigation, which began after a series of complaints from local NGOs, led officers to a rented house that functioned as a brothel where the victims were forced into prostitution.
During a coordinated raid, police rescued eight women, all originally from districts in West Bengal, and arrested five suspects identified as the gang's core members. The suspects are being held under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and will face charges of human trafficking, forced prostitution, and conspiracy.
A senior police spokesperson said the operation was the result of months of surveillance, including digital tracking of phone numbers and financial transactions linked to the traffickers. The rescued women are receiving medical and psychological assistance at a government shelter, and the police have pledged to continue probing the network for any additional accomplices.
Authorities have also warned that they are monitoring other potential trafficking routes that exploit interstate migration, urging the public to report any suspicious activity. The case underscores the ongoing challenge of combating human trafficking in urban centers across India.
