Delhi Police’s Crime Branch arrested Amit Yadav on Thursday in Dehradun, bringing an end to a 31‑year‑old kidnapping case that had remained unsolved for decades.
Yadav, 57, had been living in Dehradun under a different name and working as a builder for 26 years, according to police reports.
He was convicted in 1992 for the abduction of a young woman and was sentenced to life imprisonment. The conviction was upheld in 1994, but he had evaded capture.
Police officials said the arrest followed a long‑term investigation that traced his new identity and location. Yadav is expected to be transferred to Delhi for trial.
