Delhi: Overloaded Vehicles Now Released in 7 Days, Down from 90

Owners of overloaded commercial vehicles in Delhi have received significant relief as the seizure period has been drastically reduced. Vehicles will now be released within seven days, a sharp decrease from the previous 90-day impoundment rule.

In a significant policy shift, Delhi's transport authorities have eased rules for overloaded commercial vehicles. Previously, such vehicles could be impounded for up to 90 days, causing considerable hardship to owners.

The new regulation, implemented by the State Transport Authority (STA), mandates that overloaded commercial vehicles will now be released within a maximum of seven days. This change aims to streamline the process and reduce the prolonged detention of vehicles.

This move is expected to provide much-needed relief to the commercial vehicle operators in the capital, who often faced lengthy bureaucratic procedures and financial losses due to the extended seizure period.
