The Air Quality Index in Delhi-NCR crossed the 300 mark at three monitoring stations, indicating severe pollution levels.
Delhi-NCR's air quality deteriorated further today as the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded values above 300 at three separate monitoring stations, a level classified as hazardous. The stations, located in central, west and south Delhi, reported the highest readings in the past week, reflecting a sharp rise in particulate matter and other pollutants.
Health officials have issued advisories urging residents, especially children, the elderly and those with respiratory conditions, to limit outdoor activities and keep windows closed. The Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has also recommended the use of N95 masks for anyone needing to step outside.
Despite ongoing measures such as traffic restrictions and temporary shutdowns of certain industrial units, the city continues to grapple with poor air quality. Meteorological experts note that stagnant wind patterns and low rainfall have contributed to the buildup of pollutants, making immediate improvement unlikely.
The authorities are monitoring the situation closely and will update the public if the AQI reaches even higher levels or if any emergency measures become necessary.
