Delhi Metro will commence operations at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday to support the Delhi Half Marathon, according to DMRC. The extended schedule aims to ease commuter traffic for the event.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that all metro lines will start running from 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, the day of the Delhi Half Marathon. The early start is intended to accommodate the influx of participants and spectators and to reduce congestion on the city’s roads.

DMRC officials stated that the extended schedule will apply to all lines, including the Red, Blue, and Pink lines. Passengers are advised to check the full timetable on the DMRC website or mobile app for any line‑specific changes.

The decision follows a review of traffic patterns during previous marathon editions, where late‑night and early‑morning traffic jams were reported. By opening the metro earlier, DMRC hopes to provide a smoother commute for both marathon attendees and regular commuters.

Commuters are encouraged to plan their journeys in advance and to allow extra travel time, as the early hours may see increased passenger volumes. DMRC has also increased the frequency of trains during peak hours on Sunday.

The Delhi Half Marathon, organized by the Delhi Sports Authority, is scheduled to begin at 7:30 a.m. with a route that covers key landmarks across the city.
