The Municipal Corporation of Delhi announced that any structure exceeding four floors built without approval will be sealed immediately, and officials found responsible will be removed from service.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) issued an order to seal all illegal constructions that rise above four floors across the capital. The directive, described as "immediate," targets structures that were erected without the requisite building permits or in violation of zoning norms.

MCD officials warned that any department or officer found complicit in permitting such violations will face dismissal. A special task force has been set up to identify and act on the offending buildings within days.

The move comes amid growing concerns over public safety after several high‑rise collapses in recent years. By enforcing the four‑floor limit, the corporation aims to curb unregulated vertical growth and ensure compliance with the Delhi Building Bye‑Laws.

The corporation has also urged residents to report suspicious constructions, promising swift action against violators. The sealing process will involve physical barricades and legal notices, with the possibility of demolition for non‑compliant owners.

Authorities said the crackdown will be coordinated with the Delhi government’s urban development department to streamline enforcement and prevent future illegal expansions.
