The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will raise parking charges for two‑wheelers and cars at 400 locations, effectively doubling the current rates under the GRAP‑II programme.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has issued a directive to increase parking tariffs at 400 designated lots across the city. The hike, announced under the second phase of the Grievance Redressal and Parking (GRAP‑II) scheme, will roughly double the existing fees for both two‑wheelers and four‑wheelers.

According to the circular sent to ward officers, the revised rates will come into effect from the date of notification. MCD officials say the additional revenue will support municipal services and help manage the growing demand for parking in the capital.

Vehicle owners are urged to consult the updated fee charts displayed at each parking facility. The corporation has indicated that the extra funds will be channelled into improving parking infrastructure, such as better lighting, security cameras and maintenance.

While the move is presented as a measure to enhance service quality, some commuter groups have expressed concern that the higher cost could strain daily commuters, especially two‑wheeler riders, who rely heavily on affordable parking options.
