The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has given the green light to establish 427 ancillary positions within the Delhi Judicial Service, aiming to strengthen court administration.

The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi has formally approved the addition of 427 ancillary posts to the Delhi Judicial Service. The decision, announced through an official notification, is intended to bolster the administrative backbone of the city’s courts.

According to the approval, the new positions will cover a range of support functions that assist judges and court staff in day‑to‑day operations. By expanding the pool of clerical, technical and other auxiliary staff, the administration expects faster case processing and reduced backlog.

The move follows a recent review of staffing requirements within the judicial system, which highlighted gaps in ancillary manpower. Officials indicated that the newly created posts will be filled through the existing recruitment channels for the Delhi Judicial Service.

Stakeholders in the legal community have welcomed the step, noting that adequate support staff is crucial for maintaining the efficiency and credibility of the courts. The appointments are slated to begin later this year, subject to the completion of the recruitment process.
