The Delhi administration has announced a new online portal that will catalogue safety details of private guest houses (PGs). Within three days, officials will inspect 100 PGs across the city.

Delhi’s municipal authorities have unveiled an online portal aimed at enhancing the safety of private guest houses (PGs) used by students and young professionals. The portal will allow PG owners to register details such as fire safety measures, CCTV installation, and compliance with building codes.

As part of the rollout, a team of inspectors will visit 100 PGs in the city over a three‑day period. The inspections will focus on verifying the presence of fire exits, functioning fire extinguishers, and proper electrical wiring.

In addition to safety checks, the portal will provide information on amenities like water supply, sanitation, and security arrangements. Owners will be required to upload photographs and documents, which will be publicly accessible to help tenants make informed choices.

The initiative is expected to bring greater transparency to the PG market, reduce incidents of theft and fire, and encourage owners to upgrade facilities to meet regulatory standards.
