The Delhi government has issued a safety directive prohibiting the use of curtains and any unauthorised halts on city buses.
The Delhi administration has released a new safety order aimed at improving passenger security on public buses. The directive explicitly bars the installation of curtains inside buses, a practice that officials say can obstruct visibility and hinder emergency response.
In addition, the order forbids drivers from making unauthorised stops at locations not designated as official bus halts. Transport officials intend the measure to curb irregular boarding and alighting that may jeopardise commuter safety.
The government has instructed the Delhi Transport Corporation and private operators to comply immediately, with enforcement to be monitored by traffic police and transport inspectors.
