Delhi's Public Works Department (PWD) minister announced a comprehensive upgrade of the road network and drainage infrastructure in the Burari locality. The initiative aims to address chronic congestion and recurring waterlogging that have plagued residents for years.
The plan includes widening key arterial roads, resurfacing deteriorated stretches, and replacing outdated underground drains with larger, storm‑water‑resilient pipelines. Additional street lighting and pedestrian pathways are also slated for installation.
Funding for the project will be drawn from the Delhi government's capital budget, with work expected to commence in the next fiscal quarter. Officials project that the upgrades will reduce travel time and mitigate flood risks during the monsoon season.
Local ward representatives will coordinate with PWD engineers to ensure minimal disruption to daily traffic and to prioritize sections most affected by past flooding incidents.
