The Delhi government has partnered with Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to develop an artificial‑intelligence based bus management system aimed at improving the efficiency of the capital’s public transport.
Delhi’s transport authority announced a joint venture with the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur to design an AI‑driven bus scheduling and monitoring platform. The initiative seeks to optimise route planning, reduce passenger waiting times and enhance fleet utilisation across the city’s extensive bus network.
Under the agreement, IIT Kanpur will provide technical expertise in machine‑learning algorithms, real‑time data analytics and system integration, while the Delhi government will facilitate pilot testing on selected corridors. Officials said the project will initially focus on high‑density routes before scaling city‑wide.
The collaboration reflects a broader push by Indian metros to embed advanced technology in public services, aiming to make commuting smoother and more reliable for millions of daily riders.
