Delhi gets a makeover with 15,000+ plants, flower boards and fountains for BRICS summit

Ahead of the BRICS summit, Delhi officials are installing over 15,000 potted plants, 15 floral boards and nine flower‑filled fountains to enhance the capital’s appearance for visiting dignitaries.
Delhi’s municipal authorities have launched a large‑scale greening drive aimed at impressing foreign delegates attending the upcoming BRICS summit. More than 15,000 potted plants will be placed across key public spaces, complemented by fifteen decorative flower boards and nine illuminated fountains filled with seasonal blooms.
The installations are being carried out in high‑visibility zones such as Connaught Place, India Gate lawns, and the corridors leading to the summit venue. The Delhi Development Authority, in coordination with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, has overseen the procurement and planting schedule, targeting completion a week before the summit’s opening.
Officials say the initiative is intended to project a cleaner, greener image of the capital and to provide a pleasant environment for both visitors and residents. The added greenery is also expected to improve air quality temporarily during the high‑profile event.
The beautification effort forms part of a broader set of preparations that include traffic management, security upgrades and hospitality arrangements for the heads of state expected at the summit.
