The Delhi Commission for Women has installed a new chairperson and members, ending a 2.5‑year vacancy in its top posts.
The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) announced the appointment of a new chairperson along with a full roster of members, filling top posts that have remained vacant for two and a half years. The selections were made by the Delhi government under the provisions of the DCW Act after a formal interview and vetting process.
The newly appointed chairperson, a senior bureaucrat with experience in gender issues, will steer the commission’s mandate to protect women’s rights, address harassment complaints, and advise the administration on gender‑sensitive policies. The fresh team is expected to revitalize the commission’s investigative and advisory functions.
During the leadership gap, the commission operated with an acting head, which constrained its ability to launch new inquiries and issue policy recommendations. With the new leadership in place, the DCW plans to resume pending investigations, expand awareness programmes, and strengthen its grievance‑redressal mechanism.
