Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said Delhi's landfill sites are being cleared using scientific methods, recovering up to 95 acres for reuse and improving the environment.

Delhi's Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted a ongoing initiative to decontaminate the capital's landfill sites through scientifically driven processes. The effort aims to restore the degraded areas and make them suitable for productive use.

The cleanup employs advanced waste segregation, soil remediation and bio‑remediation techniques, overseen by environmental engineers and municipal officials. Officials report that the systematic approach has accelerated the removal of hazardous waste and reduced methane emissions.

According to the CM, between 85 and 95 acres of land have already been reclaimed and are slated for redevelopment as green spaces or civic projects. The reclaimed area is expected to contribute to Delhi's broader environmental goals, including better air quality and increased urban greenery.

The state government plans to replicate the methodology at other dormant landfill sites across the city, signaling a long‑term commitment to sustainable waste management and urban renewal.
