The luxury train Deccan Odyssey has started its 2026‑27 itinerary, showcasing revamped coaches inspired by Maharashtra’s heritage and equipped with QR codes for passenger information.
The Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) has officially kicked off the 2026‑27 season of the Deccan Odyssey, India’s flagship luxury rail experience. The train, which traverses iconic destinations across the country, rolled out its new itinerary this week with a refreshed exterior and interior design.
Each of the ten coaches has been redesigned to reflect distinct elements of Maharashtra’s cultural heritage, from Maratha architecture motifs to traditional art patterns. The upgraded interiors feature handcrafted woodwork, locally sourced fabrics and colour palettes drawn from historic forts and palaces.
To enhance the passenger experience, QR codes have been affixed to seat backs and carriage doors. Scanning the codes provides real‑time information about the train’s itinerary, onboard services, and details of the attractions being visited, reducing the need for printed brochures.
