The Delhi Development Authority has cleared the Delhi 2047 master plan, allowing construction in 70 villages and parts of the Yamuna floodplain.

The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has formally approved the Delhi 2047 master plan, a comprehensive blueprint that outlines the city’s long‑term growth strategy. The clearance removes a key regulatory hurdle and signals a new phase of urban development.

Under the approved plan, construction is now permitted in 70 villages that fall within the city’s jurisdiction. These villages, which have historically been on the periphery of Delhi’s urban core, will see new housing, infrastructure and civic amenities.

The decision also opens up sections of the Yamuna floodplain for development, subject to environmental safeguards. The DDA has indicated that projects in these areas will need to incorporate flood‑resilience measures and adhere to strict zoning norms.

Urban planners and developers are expected to mobilise quickly, as the approval is seen as a catalyst for addressing Delhi’s housing demand and improving connectivity across the capital region.
