In Darbhanga, the dormant Raiyam and Sakri sugar mills are poised for revival with a target to resume operations by 2028, as DM Kausal Kumar handed over the key to Indian Potash Limited representatives.
The Raiyam and Sakri sugar mills in Darbhanga, which have remained closed for years, are now on track for a revival. Local development authorities have accelerated the reopening plans, aiming to bring both mills back into operation by 2028.
During a formal ceremony, District Magistrate Kausal Kumar presented the key to the sugarcane office to a representative of Indian Potash Limited, marking a significant step toward the mills’ restoration.
Alongside the physical reopening, the administration has announced training programs for local farmers to enhance sugarcane cultivation practices, ensuring that the mills have a steady supply of quality raw material.
The revival is expected to boost the region’s economy, create jobs, and provide a reliable outlet for sugarcane growers in the district.
