Singer Daler Mehndi was requested to halt his performance at a Navratri event in Tehri, Uttarakhand, after organizers highlighted a Durga Mata programme scheduled for the same day.
Daler Mehndi was scheduled to perform at a Navratri celebration in Tehri, Uttarakhand. The singer, known for his energetic bhangra hits, had been booked to entertain the crowd.
However, event organizers approached him and requested that he cease singing, citing that a Durga Mata programme would be held on the same day. The programme, a religious tribute, was deemed to take precedence over the musical act.
The decision was communicated to the singer by local authorities, who emphasized the importance of respecting the sanctity of the Durga Mata event. Mehndi reportedly complied with the request, though no official statement from the artist has been released.
The incident highlights the delicate balance between cultural entertainment and religious observances during major festivals in India. Organizers are expected to coordinate schedules to avoid conflicts in the future.
