Cyclone Murasu is making landfall near Andhra Pradesh, bringing heavy rainfall and strong winds. Meteorological departments have issued alerts for coastal districts.

Cyclone Murasu, a powerful low‑pressure system, has intensified over the Bay of Bengal and is now on a trajectory that will bring it close to the Andhra Pradesh coastline. Meteorological officials have confirmed that the cyclone will make landfall within the next 24 hours, with wind speeds expected to reach gale force levels.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a Category‑3 cyclone warning for several districts along the eastern coast, urging residents to seek shelter and secure property. Heavy rainfall is anticipated, with estimates of up to 200 millimetres in some areas, which could lead to flash flooding.

Authorities have activated emergency response plans and are coordinating with local police and disaster management teams to ensure timely evacuation and relief operations. Residents in low‑lying coastal villages are advised to stay away from the shoreline and avoid traveling by sea until the storm passes.

Updates on the cyclone’s intensity, track, and rainfall are being released hourly by the IMD. Citizens are encouraged to monitor official weather bulletins and follow instructions from local authorities.
