The weather system known as Cyclone Arnab has weakened to a depression as it traverses the southern parts of Chhattisgarh and adjoining southern Odisha.

The latest meteorological bulletin indicates that Cyclone Arnab, which earlier posed a threat to eastern India, has lost its cyclonic intensity and is now classified as a depression. The system is currently positioned over the southern region of Chhattisgarh and is extending into the adjoining southern districts of Odisha.

With wind speeds dropping below the cyclone threshold, the immediate risk of severe gale‑force winds has diminished. However, the lingering low‑pressure area continues to generate moderate rainfall across the affected zones.

Authorities in both states have been advised to remain vigilant, as localized flooding can still occur in low‑lying areas. The weather agency will continue to monitor the depression's movement and issue updates as it progresses westward.
