A cold front linked to Cyclone Arnab has caused snowfall in Himachal’s mountains while the plains of Delhi‑NCR and Uttar Pradesh are experiencing rain.

A cold air mass associated with Cyclone Arnab moved northward this week, altering the weather pattern across northern India. The system has ushered in a sharp drop in temperature, prompting snowfall in the higher reaches of Himachal Pradesh while the adjoining plains have turned wet. Delhi‑NCR and Uttar Pradesh, which were expecting a typical summer spell, are now under intermittent showers.
In the hill stations of Himachal, light to moderate snow has been reported on elevations above 3,000 metres, creating a brief wintry scene uncommon for this time of year. Meanwhile, the plains of Delhi‑NCR and Uttar Pradesh have seen steady rain, with local meteorological offices issuing advisories for possible water‑logging in low‑lying areas.
Temperatures across the affected regions have fallen by 4‑6°C compared with the previous week, offering a temporary respite from the heat wave that had gripped much of the country. Authorities have urged residents to stay updated on forecasts and to take precautions against slippery roads in the hills and localized flooding in the plains.
