Cyclone Arnab has prompted meteorological authorities to issue heavy rainfall warnings across Nepal, urging residents to prepare for potential flooding.
Cyclone Arnab, currently tracking across the Bay of Bengal, is expected to influence weather patterns over Nepal in the coming days. Meteorological authorities have issued heavy rainfall warnings for several districts, citing the possibility of sudden downpours and flash floods.
The National Meteorological Department has highlighted that the cyclone’s outer bands could bring sustained rainfall exceeding 200 mm in some areas. Officials have urged local administrations to activate emergency response plans and to keep residents informed through radio and mobile alerts.
Affected regions include the Terai belt and the foothills of the Himalayas, where heavy rain could exacerbate existing waterlogging and threaten agricultural fields. Authorities are monitoring river levels closely to mitigate the risk of overflow.
Residents are advised to secure loose objects, avoid low-lying areas, and stay updated on official weather bulletins. The government has also requested that schools and public buildings remain vigilant for sudden weather changes.
