The Cauvery Water Management Authority (CWMA) confirmed the Cauvery Water Regulation Committee's advice to Karnataka to maintain a flow of 9,000 cubic feet per second (cusecs) of water to Tamil Nadu. The directive covers a period of 15 consecutive days.
The decision was taken during the 56th CWMA meeting held in New Delhi, chaired by senior official S. The meeting reviewed the water‑sharing schedule and concluded that the stipulated release is essential to meet Tamil Nadu's agricultural and domestic needs.
Karnataka officials are now required to adjust dam releases and river management operations to meet the mandated volume. The CWMA's order is binding and will be monitored for compliance throughout the stipulated period.
