CRPF Jawans Abducted in Ajmer, Blackmailed for ₹89,000 via YONO and UPI

A CRPF soldier in Ajmer was lured under the pretext of help, assaulted, filmed and forced to transfer ₹89,000 through YONO and UPI, police said.
Police in Ajmer disclosed that a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawan was summoned on the promise of assistance, after which he was restrained, beaten and recorded in a compromising video. The perpetrators used the footage to blackmail the soldier, demanding a monetary transfer.
The jawan was instructed to move ₹89,000 to multiple bank accounts via the YONO platform and Unified Payments Interface (UPI). The transfers were carried out under duress, with the criminals threatening further exposure of the video.
An FIR has been lodged and investigators are tracing the digital footprints of the transactions and the mobile numbers used to coordinate the extortion. Authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could help identify the accused.
The case underscores growing concerns about the safety of security personnel off‑duty and the misuse of digital payment tools for extortion.
