A large crowd gathered for the water‑immersion ceremony at Singeshwar Temple in Madhyapur on the last Monday of Sawan, leading to a chaotic scene as barricades were broken and several devotees were injured.

On the last Monday of the Sawan month, a massive gathering assembled at Singeshwar Temple in Madhyapur for the traditional water‑immersion ceremony. Around 8 a.m., the crowd began to swell beyond the capacity of the area, prompting attempts by authorities to manage the flow with barricades.

Despite these measures, the crowd surged forward, causing a stampede that broke the erected barriers. The ensuing chaos led to several devotees sustaining injuries, with some requiring medical attention on the spot.

Local police and temple officials responded promptly, setting up temporary medical tents and directing injured persons to nearby hospitals. The incident has prompted a review of crowd‑control protocols for future religious events at the site.

The temple authorities have expressed regret over the incident and assured that steps will be taken to prevent a recurrence. No fatalities were reported, but the injuries ranged from minor bruises to more serious cuts requiring treatment.
