The Jammu and Kashmir Crime Branch has formally charged 15 individuals in connection with the rape and death of minors in Kishtwar.

The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir lodged a chargesheet on Monday against fifteen accused in the high‑profile case involving the rape and subsequent death of two minors in Kishtwar district. The filing marks the culmination of a months‑long investigation by the state’s specialised crime‑investigation unit.

According to the official document, the accused are alleged to have participated in the abduction, sexual assault and eventual killing of the victims. The chargesheet enumerates the specific offences under the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and it has been submitted to the Kishtwar district court for further judicial action.

Legal experts note that the filing of a chargesheet is a critical procedural step that moves the case from investigation to prosecution. The court will now schedule a hearing where the accused will be asked to plead, and the trial process will commence in accordance with Indian criminal law.
