CPI(M) Demands SIT Probe into Tripura DGP’s Death, Calls for High Court Judge Inquiry

In a session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, CPI(M) legislators raised strong objections over the circumstances surrounding the death of the state's Director General of Police. The party tabled a resolution urging the government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the incident thoroughly.

The CPI(M) members argued that the existing inquiry lacks independence and transparency, and therefore called for a probe led by a sitting High Court judge. They emphasized that a judicially supervised investigation would restore public confidence and ensure accountability.

The demand comes amid growing public concern in Tripura over the sudden demise of the DGP, which officials have described as unexpected. While the state government has not yet responded to the resolution, opposition leaders warned that any delay could fuel speculation and unrest.

CPI(M) leaders also appealed to the central government for support, stating that a credible investigation is essential for upholding the rule of law in the northeastern state.
