The Communist Party of India has urged the Andhra Pradesh government to stop Telangana from proceeding with a lift irrigation project near Pulichintala, citing concerns over water sharing and local impact.
The Communist Party of India (CPI) has formally requested that the Andhra Pradesh government intervene to halt a lift irrigation scheme being pursued by the Telangana government near Pulichintala.
The project, which involves pumping water from the Krishna River basin, is slated to benefit agricultural lands in the region.
CPI officials expressed concerns that the initiative could affect water availability for local farmers and alter the ecological balance of the area. The party has called for a review of the project’s environmental and social impact assessments before any construction proceeds.
The Andhra Pradesh government has yet to respond to the CPI’s appeal.
