Contract employees of Roadways, Punjab National Bank and the Punjab Road Transport Corporation walked out in Amritsar, protesting against the state government.
Amritsar witnessed a coordinated walkout by contract staff of three public sector entities – Roadways, Punjab National Bank (PNB) and the Punjab Road Transport Corporation (PRTC). The employees gathered outside their respective offices and halted work to register their protest against the state government.
The demonstrators carried placards and voiced grievances, demanding that the authorities address issues they have raised. While the exact demands were not detailed in the report, the strike reflects growing discontent among contract workers over perceived policy decisions.
Local law enforcement monitored the gathering to ensure it remained peaceful. No reports of violence or arrests were mentioned, and services were expected to resume once the protest concluded.
The incident adds to a series of recent labour actions across Punjab, highlighting tensions between contract employees and the government over employment conditions.
