August 2024 recorded uniform weather across India, resulting in a nationwide rainfall shortfall while temperatures stayed comfortable.

The month of August 2024 exhibited a consistent weather pattern across most regions of India, according to the latest observations from the India Meteorological Department. While the uniform conditions helped maintain moderate temperatures, the country as a whole experienced a rainfall deficit compared to the long‑term average.

Meteorologists noted that the lack of significant deviations in temperature and wind patterns contributed to a stable, pleasant climate, especially in urban centers where extreme heat often poses health risks. However, the shortfall in precipitation has raised concerns among agricultural experts, who warn that cumulative deficits could affect crop water availability if the trend continues.

The IMD has advised farmers to monitor soil moisture levels closely and consider supplemental irrigation where feasible. Authorities are also urging water management agencies to optimize reservoir releases to mitigate the impact of the deficit while preserving the comfortable weather that has benefited daily life this month.
