Chief Minister Conrad Sangma expressed confidence that the National People’s Party will regain momentum in the Northeast following its recent merger with a Nagaland outfit.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma of Meghalaya told reporters that the National People’s Party (NPP) remains resilient despite recent setbacks. He highlighted the party’s strategic merger with a Nagaland-based political group as a turning point that will expand its footprint across the region.
Sangma said the integration will bring together grassroots networks and seasoned leaders, enabling the NPP to contest future elections with a broader base. He emphasized that the party’s core agenda of development and regional autonomy will resonate with voters in the eight Northeastern states.
While acknowledging the challenges of coalition politics, the chief minister assured that the NPP’s organisational machinery is being reinforced to capitalize on the new alliance. He concluded that the party is "upset but not broken" and will emerge stronger in the coming electoral cycles.
