Congress stages human chain in Ujjain demanding safety after police inspector's death

Congress workers gathered at Tower Chowk in Ujjain on Saturday, forming a human chain to protest the recent death of a police inspector whose vehicle was run over in Kathegaon, Devas. The demonstrators raised slogans against the state government, accusing it of failing to ensure public safety.

The protest was triggered by the incident in which the inspector's car was allegedly crushed, leading to his death. Party members said the killing reflects a broader climate of lawlessness and demanded immediate action from the Madhya Pradesh administration.

Organisers called for a swift investigation and stricter measures to protect law‑enforcement personnel and ordinary citizens alike. The rally remained peaceful, with participants dispersing after a few hours once the police cleared the area.

State officials have not yet issued a detailed response, but the incident has intensified political pressure on the government ahead of upcoming local elections.
