Congress MP Manish Tewari has stated that the upcoming delimitation exercise will primarily benefit Central India, citing potential gains for the region's constituencies.
The Delimitation Commission's proposal to redraw parliamentary and assembly boundaries is expected to have a significant impact on Central India, according to Congress MP Manish Tewari.
Tewari, speaking at a press conference in New Delhi, said the exercise would create more balanced representation for the region, potentially increasing the number of seats in states like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Uttar Pradesh.
He added that the changes could translate into better resource allocation and development focus for central Indian constituencies.
The Delimitation Commission, which was established in 2002, is set to submit its final report in 2024, after reviewing population data from the 2011 Census.
Opposition parties have raised concerns about the timing and methodology, but Tewari maintains that the exercise is essential for fair representation.
