Congress functionary seeks FIR over Uttarakhand purification ritual after Kharge visit

A senior functionary of the Indian National Congress has formally requested that law enforcement register a First Information Report (FIR) concerning a purification ritual that took place in Uttarakhand after the recent visit of party president Mallikarjun Kharge. The official alleges that the ritual, which involved public displays of religious symbolism, contravenes existing statutes governing public order and the use of religious practices for political purposes.

The demand for an FIR was lodged with the local police in Uttarakhand, where the ritual was reportedly organized in a public venue shortly after Kharge concluded his state tour.
