A four‑year‑old girl died after an iron gate fell at the Kothi helipad in Onkarshewar, Madhya Pradesh, prompting Congress leaders to call for a technical investigation into the gate's design, material and installation.

On Tuesday, a four‑year‑old girl named Divya was fatally injured when an iron gate collapsed at the Kothi helipad in Onkarshewar, Madhya Pradesh. Local authorities confirmed that the gate, which was part of the helipad's security enclosure, fell onto the child as she was passing nearby. The incident has sparked immediate concern over the safety standards of the structure.

Congress leader Uttam Pal Singh, addressing a press conference in the district, questioned the quality of the gate's construction. He urged the state administration to launch a detailed technical inquiry covering the gate's design specifications, the grade of iron used, and the adequacy of its installation.

The district administration has registered a case of accidental death and is coordinating with the municipal engineering department to assess the helipad's infrastructure. Officials have pledged to cooperate with any independent forensic examination requested by the legislative opposition.

While the investigation is underway, local residents expressed grief and demanded stricter oversight of public‑use facilities. The incident highlights broader concerns about safety compliance in rapidly developing infrastructure across smaller towns.

The Congress party has announced that it will monitor the probe closely and seek accountability if negligence is found, emphasizing the need for transparent safety audits of all similar installations in the state.
