Congress Accuses Modi of Forming Exam Task Force to Boost His Image

Congress leader Jairam Ramesh criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for setting up a task force on examination reforms, claiming it was aimed at polishing his image amid Gen‑Z protests.

After a wave of protests by Gen‑Z students demanding changes in the examination system, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the formation of a task force to review and recommend reforms.

Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh dismissed the initiative as a political ploy, stating that the task force was created "only to fix the PM’s image" in the face of mounting student unrest.

The task force, comprising education experts, former officials and industry representatives, is set to submit a report by the end of the year outlining changes to exam patterns, evaluation methods and digital infrastructure.

The opposition has called for a transparent and inclusive review process, warning that the task force could be used to sidestep genuine reforms and instead serve the government's image management agenda.
