On 8 October, the Cockroach Janta Party staged a 'Chappal' protest in Bengaluru, following earlier demonstrations in Delhi and Mumbai. The party has now shifted its focus to the IT sector.
On 8 October, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) organized a protest in Bengaluru, which the party dubbed the "Chappal" protest. The event followed similar demonstrations that the party staged in Delhi and Mumbai earlier in the month.
The CJP has indicated a strategic shift toward the IT sector, a move reflected in the theme and messaging of the Bengaluru protest. While details of the protest’s specific demands remain sparse, the party’s focus on IT suggests a critique of the industry’s policies or practices.
Participants gathered in the city’s public spaces, carrying signs that highlighted the party’s new agenda. The protest was conducted peacefully, with no reports of clashes or disruptions to traffic.
Authorities noted the turnout and the orderly conduct of the demonstration, and the event was covered by local media outlets. The CJP’s next steps in the IT sector remain to be seen, but the Bengaluru protest marks a clear pivot from its earlier urban campaigns.
